Nýjustu breiðskífu Sigur rósar, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, var beðið með mikilli eftirvæntingu í höfuðstöðvum Monitors. Eftir vel heppnaða heimildarmynd um tónleikaferð hljómsveitarinnar um Ísland í fyrra var ákaflega erfitt að spá fyrir um hvað kæmi næst. Fréttir bárust af samstarfi Sigur rósar og upptökustjórans Flood í fyrra. Hann hefur unnið með U2 og The Killers, sem eru langt frá því að vera á sömu tónlistarlegu bylgjulengd og Sigur rós.

Fyrsta lagið á Með suð í eyrum… lýsir á óyggjandi hátt yfir að skífan er öðruvísi en fyrri verk Sigur rósar. Lagið heitir Gobbledigook og blandar á frábæran hátt folk-poppi saman við melódíu sem fáir töfra fram jafn vel og Sigur rós. Þar með hefur tónninn verið sleginn; Sigur rós hefur ekki verið jafn fersk í langan tíma. Gobbledigook og næsta lag, Inní mér syngur vitleysingur, eru hressandi vitnisburður um hversu framúrskarandi hljómsveit Sigur rós er. Jafn vel útfærð popptónlist er vandfundin.

Með Með suð í eyrum… er Sigur rós þó á engan hátt að yfirgefa uppruna sinn. Skífan geymir allt sem gerir Sigur rós að Sigur rós. Fallegar strengjaútsetningar, alls kyns hljómborð og önnur torkennileg hljóð sem krydda súpuna og gera hana bragðbetri. Skífan er að miklu leyti auðmeltari en fyrri verk Sigur rósar og að mörgu leyti skemmtilegri en () og Takk. Það liggur beinast við að bera hana saman við meistaraverkið Ágætis byrjun, enda hefur hún allt. Nokkuð hefðbundna popptónlist í Við spilum endalaust og ekta Sigur rósar-epík í Festival og All Alright. Þá er Ára bátur hreint stórkostlega fallegt lag þar sem sinfóníuhljómsveit og drengjakór njóta sín við hlið Sigur rósar.

Sigur rós er hljómsveit sem fer algjörlega sínar eigin leiðir og kemst upp með það. Með suð í eyrum… er nánast hnökralaus skífa sem á eftir að opna nýjar dyr fyrir hljómsveitina og auka hróður hennar um allan heim.

S-au reunit si planuiesc un concert la finele acestei luni.
“First off, the trend of reunion shows with bands has been completely insane lately. All of us in LLBNF want to address that this show is for the following reasons which you can read below. But one thing for sure… this has NOTHING to do with personal finance unlike so many bands doing reunion shows as of late.

“Our great friend bob is opening a brand new venue in Saint Louis, Mo called Fubar. Bob, throughout the years, has done a lot for all of us in LLBNF whether it be for the band or for some of us personally. He has gone as far as helping us rent vans back in the day to make sure we could get to shows etc. We are all very excited on his new club and the fact that he is trying to bring back to Saint Louis what has been missing for a long time. A decent mid-level venue and just a all around great place to hang and drink at.

“[Moreover], a few years ago, all of us in LLBNF played one last show and kinda abruptly disappeared from the music scene. In doing this we left a lot of people hanging and throughout all of this we have STILL seen an incredible amount of love and support for a band that has now been defunct for 4 years? Shit who knows. It’s pretty incredible with so much music out these days that people still remember us and care. So this brings us to the now…

“We, the entire original lineup of LLBNF, will be doing a show in late-ish July (possibly 2 shows) as a show of appreciation to everyone that has every supported us, put us up or kept that flame going. Our set will consist of the first record and the second record. hopefully both in their entirety. And maybe even some new stuff/songs you may have not have heard. A majority of proceeds from these shows will go to helping Bob with his bar and to help him get this club killing it in Saint Louis.

“We will have pre-sale tickets available shortly and all the show information to follow.”

Mastodon intra in studio pentru a inregistra noul album, care va fi produs de Brendan O’Brien (Rage Against The Machine, Stone Temple Pilots). Lansarea va fi candva pana la sfarsitul anului acesta, prin Reprise/Warner.

Cynic vor scoate la Season of Mist Records urmatorul album, la 15 ani dupa celebrul “Focus”, planuindu-si lansarea candva “toamna viitoare”. Avem si un mic teaser pe noul profil de pe myspace al trupei , din melodia “Integral Birth”.
Sean Malone trece inapoi la bass, iar vara aceasta, Cynic vor intra in studio impreuna cu Warren Riker (Down), pentru noul album care va contine 8 melodii.

Misery Index au intrat de marti in studiourile Godcity, unde, alaturi de Kurt Ballou vor inregistra noul album, posibil numit “Traitors”, cu o lansare asteptata la sfarsitul verii - inceputul toamnei.
Adam Jarvis (tobe) declara: “I have honestly never been so excited about recording an album.”, iar Sparky Voyles (chitara) adauga “We’re really looking forward to working with Kurt. We’re all big fans of his work and production. We know he will do the songs justice.”

Peppermill Records este un netlabel, specializat in albume colaborative - sau compilatii. Semnalam ultimul lor produs - un cvadruplu LP intitulat 52 weeks project. Citam de pe pagina Peppermill:

“For our first project we did 30 artists in 30 days… now we tried 52 artists in 52 weeks, divided up into four parts. Those of course being Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

The first artist started on the 21st of December, the first day of Winter which also happens to be the Solstice. They borrowed a headline out of that week’s news as the title to their 2-3 minute song and then had 7 days to complete it before they passed their creation on to the next artist, who continued where they had left off.

We had some amazing musicians that took part. Winter was all over the map, stylistically, while Spring was much more acoustic, with real instruments and voices and such… Summer on the other hand was faster, harder, very rhythmic… and then Fall was a combination of things. Overall we’re very happy with the result of this year-long experiment, and we hope you enjoy it as well.”

So - avem o multitudine de artisti de prima marime - se remarca Wisp, Ceschi, Jason Forrest, Duran Duran Duran… - fiecare preluand stafeta de la predecesorul sau din playlist. Un experiment interesant, avem si un roman in lista - Candlestickmaker - care si-a lasat piesa pe mainile lui Wisp . Rezultatul?…. aici!

Experimentul Peppermill este remarcabil, 2 ore si 24 de minute de reverie electronica… Inca o dovada ca netlabelurile scot productii de calitate similara labelurilor “clasice”….

Compilatia de la The Silent Ballet impreuna cu Lost Children Net Label a ajuns la Volumul VII: “Winter 2008″. Acesta este concentrata aproape in totalitate asupra proiectelor solo si a colaborarilor duo.
